Monogram

Monograms symbolize everything from people to companies, colleges and religious figures.

 

Monograms are often made by combining the initials of an individual or a company, used as recognizable symbols or logos. A series of uncombined initials is properly referred to as a cypher (e.g. a royal cypher) and is not a monogram

 

Assignment
  • In Adobe Illustrator you will

    • Start with a typeface you feel would make a good monogram for you

    • Convert the type to outlines and modify the letter to interlock like a traditional monogram

    • At lease 2 of the letters must interlock or cross in some manner

    • Try to stay away from fonts Myriad and Arial

 

  • Create a PDF

    • Upload your monogram that you created using Adobe Illustrator to Jupitergrades

 

Requirements​
  • The PDF should be named "yournameMonogram"

  • There must be a summary explaining your monogram and why you feel that way and how the image is a visual representation of you.

 

Description of Project

Students will create a PDF that contains an image that exemplifies themselves in a monogram. They will then explain how the image is visually communicating what they are feeling or trying to express.

Standard 1.1: Identify and use the principles of design to discuss, analyze, and write about visual aspects in the environment and in works of art, including their own

Standard 1.4: Analyze and describe how the composition of a work of art is affected by the use of a particular principle of design
