HIGH CONTRAST PHOTOGRAPHS
Objective:
During the period students will synthesize interesting color combinations, by evidence of using colorful gradients in high contrast photographs.​​

Assignment
Part 1
Students will find an image of a public figure on the the internet. Apply the steps listed below to synthesize an image that is of high contrast and contains a gradient coloring to it that is of appropriate color to the celebrity, in the case of an athlete the the gradient would be that of the sports team they belong to and if they were a politician the colors of the country or movement they belong to.

Part 2
Students will take 5 pictures over the weekend and upon return to school the following school day they will relate and apply the same technique previously learned to the photos they took.

Step 1: Open your photograph on Photoshop
Step 2: Duplicate your background layer. (Ctrl + J)
Step 3: Then Right click on top layer, then select Convert to Smart Object
Step 4: Head up to Filter ---> Filter Gallery
Step 5: Select Sketch, then Torn Edges
Step 6: Set Image Balance to 20, Smoothness to 15 and Contrast to 10. Hit OK
Step 7: Create New Adjustment Layer. Then select Gradient.
Step 8: Click on the Gradient Presets, in this case the square with the rainbow and gray and white checkered pattern.
Step 9: Click on the little gear icon above the Gradient Presets. Select Color Harmonies 1, and then select a gradient color combo you enjoy. Then hit OK
Step 10: Change the angle to 60 degrees
Step 11: Change the scale to be zoomed in more to your choosing or leave at 100% Then hit OK
Step 12: Change the top layer's Blending Mode from Normal to Lighten.

Requirements
Students will upload their first image before the end of class on the day of the demonstration.
